Here’s a quick update on anti-social behaviour locally. We know it can be distressing, but we’re working closely with partners to make the area safer and support residents. Leyton Safer Neighbourhood Team
Proactive Patrols Deliver Positive Results
Officers from Leyton and Grove Green Safer Neighbourhood Team have continued to carry out high-visibility and plain-clothes patrols across both wards. These patrols have focused on identified hotspot locations and concerns raised by residents and businesses.
Excellent proactive work by PC Tsang and PC Ahmed led officers to stop and search two males in Leyton. One male was found in possession of a suspected zombie-style knife and 45 wraps of suspected Class A drugs.
Following the arrests, officers conducted searches at associated addresses under Section 18. A further lock knife was recovered from one of the addresses. One male received a caution, while the other was released on bail pending further enquiries relating to suspected drug and offensive weapon offences.
Further Arrests and Stop-and-Search Activity
A male was arrested for breaching a Community Protection Notice following reports of aggressive begging.
During further proactive patrols, PC Tsang, PC Ahmed and PC Eldred stopped and searched three males. Subsequent checks identified that all three were wanted in connection with immigration offences. In a separate incident, PC Eldred stopped and searched another male. Police checks established that he was wanted in connection with a theft offence.
Officers also carried out three additional stop and searches across the two wards. This activity resulted in one person receiving a Penalty Notice for Disorder, one male being arrested for breaching his bail conditions. Further intelligence and enquiries being recorded to support ongoing policing activity.
Partnership Patrols
The Leyton and Grove Green teams have conducted joint patrols with council officers at several locations across both wards. This partnership work helps address persistent local concerns, including antisocial behaviour, street-based offending and issues affecting residents and businesses.
Community Engagement and Crime Prevention
Alongside enforcement work, officers have continued conducting visits and completing enquiries through the Connect policing system. The team has also provided burglary-prevention advice in relation to residential properties and a local construction site. Residents, property managers and site operators were encouraged to review security arrangements, control access and report suspicious behaviour.
Cycle Patrols
Our PCSOs have carried out regular cycle patrols at hotspot locations throughout Leyton and Grove Green. Cycle patrols allow officers to cover larger areas, remain visible and engage directly with residents, businesses and visitors.
Across London we’ve put hundreds more officers on the frontlines of community crime-fighting teams, upping visible patrols in the right ‘hot spots’ so we can deter and catch criminals - including with new tech like live facial recognition cameras, drones and e-bikes. Antisocial behaviour can come in many forms and can require support from more organisations than just the police.
